Sheet Metal Worker / Light Fabricator / Welder
Location: Scotstoun, Glasgow
Contract: 1 year+
Rates: Highly competitive (Standard 36 + overtime)

Our client, a prestigious Marine Engineering Business, is seeking Sheet Metal Workers, Light Fabricators, and Welders for a large Naval Project on a minimum 1-year contract.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Trade Papers (SVQ, NVQ, National Certificate, Modern Apprenticeship, SJIB/Gold card) are required; trade tests are conducted on the first day, followed by H&S inductions.
  • Candidates with SVQ Level 3 in any trade with sheet metal experience will be considered.
  • Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces.
  • Understanding of SHE Induction, COSHH risk awareness, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret fabrication and installation drawings.
  • Proficient hand skills for assembly and fabrication.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to SHE regulations at all times.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and install ship parts according to trade specialization.
  • Use a variety of hand and mechanical tools for fabrication activities.
  • Perform workshop work, including fabrication of ventilation systems (spiral and box vents) and sheet metal furniture (lockers, cabinets, store modules) based on drawings.
  • Install fabricated metal work on ships.
  • Apply skills to ensure the highest quality of work.

Shift Details:

Dayshift: 07:00 – 16:30 (Mon-Thu)

  • Standard 36 – PAYE: £20.10 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £26.90
  • Overtime (Weekdays & Sat): PAYE: £30.15 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £38.40
  • Sunday: PAYE: £40.20 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £50.98

Backshift: 14:00 – 23:30

Nightshift: 20:30 – 06:00

  • Standard 36 – PAYE: £26.73 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £35.67
  • Overtime (Weekdays & Sat): PAYE: £30.15 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £38.40
  • Sunday: PAYE: £40.20 + holiday pay / Umbrella: £50.98

Additional Information:
– Radius allowance of £8.00/hour for candidates living 39+ miles from site.
– Ability to pass Baseline Security Clearance and Disclosure Scotland checks is mandatory.
