Orion Group is working with a leading infrastructure and construction client to source a Civils Design Manager to join their UK Construction team in the North of Scotland.
As the Civils Design Manager, your core responsibilities will include:
- To support site-based Civils project teams and early civils related stages of building projects.
- To support implementation and manage the control of the design process to ensure that the design and procurement of specialist packages are delivered to meet project requirements in line with cost parameters.
- To support Work Winning/Project Delivery teams by providing design input and cost-effective solutions.
What you'll be doing:
- Manage the development and implementation of design proposals ensuring they meet customer requirements including budget constraints, presenting proposals for approval to the customer. The design should deliver:
- Safety in construction and use
- Quality within affordable parameters
- Ease of maintenance, energy efficiency with minimum environmental impact
- Innovation to meet customer goals and positive impact on the local community
Who we're looking for:
- Experience in design consultancy or design management within a main contracting environment.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work in a matrix organisation.
- Understanding of site-based activities and BIM processes.
- Professional membership with a relevant institute (e.g., ICE, IStructE).
- Valid CSCS card.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and industry-standard design tools.

Additionally, as the role/site is based in the North East of Scotland, applicants would ideally be from this area, however consideration will be given to candidates from the highland area with a view to being in office 2 days per week and the remainder on site.
