Project Engineer
Are you a skilled engineer with a passion for designing innovative systems and managing complex projects from concept to completion? Orion are working with a market leader looking for a Project Engineer to join their dynamic team and play a key role in delivering cutting-edge solutions in the materials handling sector.
About the Project Engineer Role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll be responsible for the engineering and technical disciplines required to complete bespoke projects. You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to design, develop, and deliver high-quality systems, with a strong focus on special purpose machinery.
Key Responsibilities of the Project Engineer:
- Create 2D and 3D general arrangement drawings using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Integrate in-house products with third-party equipment to produce tailored plant layouts.
- Lead engineering development from concept through to commissioning.
- Produce detailed manufacturing drawings and BOMs using ERP/MRP systems.
- Develop technical documentation including manuals and specifications.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to ensure project alignment.
- Provide on-site support during installation, commissioning, and testing.
Required Skills & Experience of the Project Engineer:
- Proven experience as a Project Engineer.
- Expertise in sheet metal and product design.
- Familiarity with special purpose machinery, ideally conveyors.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD 2D.
- Understanding of ERP/MRP systems and BOM management.
- HNC or equivalent in mechanical/manufacturing engineering.
