This role is for a Principal Mechanical Engineer in a leading design and manufacturing business that serves the defense industry. The position involves leading a skilled engineering team, designing complex electro-mechanical mechanisms, and overseeing the full design process from concept to production.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in designing innovative mechanical systems using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and perform engineering analysis (stress, fatigue, vibration).
- Develop prototypes, create manufacturing drawings, and oversee testing and verification.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, systems, quality) and support project management to meet deadlines.
- Engage with clients and suppliers to ensure timely execution of projects and provide technical support to sales teams.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong background in designing complex systems for harsh environments, ideally in defense or similar sectors.
- Proficient in SolidWorks and engineering analysis tools.
- Extensive experience in material selection, machining, corrosion prevention, and motion control mechanisms.
