Orion is working with a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of precision testing machines for static tension and compression applications. As part of their continued expansion, they are looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their Machine Shop team.

The Role of CNC Machinist:

As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting and operating CNC Mills and Lathes, ensuring high-quality production and efficiency. You will play a key role in maintaining their manufacturing standards while contributing to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities as the CNC Machinist:

  • Set and operate CNC machines, including MAZATROL, FANUC, HAAS controls.
  • Program using FANUC / Licom software.
  • Machine components accurately to required tolerances and high finish standards.
  • Ensure production targets are met while maintaining quality assurance.
  • Assist with tooling organization, stock counts, and workplace tidiness.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements.
  • Complete necessary documentation, such as time sheets and work orders.

What We're Looking For from a CNC Machinist:

  • Apprentice-trained, time-served CNC Machinist with NVQ/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong background in CNC Machining or Toolmaking with experience in one-off and small-batch production.
  • Ability to set and operate MAZATROL / FANUC / HAAS controls (MAZAK experience is a plus).
  • Multi-axis machining experience is advantageous.
  • Ability to read technical drawings, work to fine tolerances, and select correct tooling/fixtures.
