The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by a physician, with emphasis in specialty areas including Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care.
Responsibilities include:
- Competently deliver all Respiratory Care procedures as outlined in the department policy and procedure manual.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures.
- Verify Respiratory Care physician's orders and update patient information reflecting current clinical status.
- Participate in department meetings and continuous education.
- Perform effective airway management and assist in intubation procedures.
- Conduct arterial blood gas draws and monitor ventilator patients efficiently.
- Train and orient new employees and respiratory/nursing students.
- Comply with personal protective equipment requirements for safety.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:
- Must be a graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program with Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential.
- BLS certification required within 90 days of hire.
- NRP certification required within 6 months of hire.
- At least one year of respiratory experience in a hospital setting preferred.
- Experience in pulmonary diagnostics is preferred.
