An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Property Litigation lawyer to join a highly-regarded Real Estate group. You will become part of a friendly, collaborative team that is widely recognized for its expertise in this area and is ranked in top legal directories like Legal 500 and Chambers.
The Real Estate group comprises 8 partners and 17 other lawyers, and is recognized as one of the leading real estate practices in the South East, outside London. The group is recommended by leading independent legal directories for its comprehensive real estate services across multiple sectors, including real estate dispute resolution, construction, and transactional real estate.
The real estate disputes team is an integral part of the group and covers a broad range of property litigation work, including:
- Commercial landlord and tenant matters (e.g., 1954 Act renewals, dilapidations, rent reviews, break notices, forfeiture, and possession)
- Development and contractual disputes related to both commercial and residential properties
- Easements, covenants, boundary disputes, and land ownership issues, including adverse possession claims
- Insolvency-related property matters
- Litigation across various courts and tribunals, as well as mediation and other forms of ADR
The client base includes mid-sized businesses, household-name PLCs, and major international groups. The team works with a diverse range of clients, including property owners, investors, developers, and corporate occupiers, providing extensive expertise in property litigation.
Support from a professional support lawyer, trainees, and paralegals, along with access to valuable resources and training, ensures a collaborative working environment that promotes professional growth. Flexible and hybrid working options are available, with a preference for employees to work in the office at least two days per week.
Qualifications and Experience
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent academics, and high-quality experience, ideally gained at a top City, national, or regional practice
- Experience in commercial landlord and tenant work is preferred to assist the team’s occupier and investor clients
- Knowledge of court and tribunal procedures, along with experience in different litigation stages
- Commitment to delivering high standards of client service
- Commercial awareness and ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
