Are you an experienced Private Client Solicitor ready to step into a true leadership role? We’re working with a fast-growing, modern legal business that is building something different – a client-first, commercially driven firm that blends legal expertise with accessibility and innovation. With significant growth underway, they are now looking to appoint a Head of Wills and Probate to lead and shape their Private Client offering. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of a department, influence strategy and build something meaningful – all within a supportive, forward-thinking environment.
The Role
- You will take full responsibility for the firm’s Private Client function, combining technical excellence with strategic leadership.
- You will be responsible for the following:
- Wills
- Probate & estate administration
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Trusts & estate planning
- Inheritance Tax (IHT) matters
- Act as the technical lead for complex and high-value estates
- Supervise and mentor junior fee earners and support staff
- Oversee departmental performance (workflow, WIP, billing, service delivery)
- Handle escalated or sensitive client matters
- Build strong relationships with referrers and professional networks
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in Private Client / Wills & Probate law
- Strong leadership background – managing or mentoring teams
- Expertise in Estate planning, trusts, and IHT
- Complex, high-value estates
- Solid understanding of SRA and regulatory compliance
- Excellent communication skills, particularly with high-net-worth clients
- Commercial mindset with the ability to grow and shape a department
- High attention to detail and strong risk management approach
