This elite offshore law firm is looking for a Pensions lawyer to take on a role that spans its market‑leading Jersey and Guernsey offices. The successful candidate can be based on either island or work remotely from the mainland (with some travel as required). You will become part of a small team advising major corporates, pension companies, and trustees. Your workload will involve complex and innovative work spanning every aspect of the formulation and operation of schemes, accounting for all relevant regulatory and legislative requirements. This is high‑quality work and will require someone who is both technically excellent and who is comfortable in the client‑facing side of the role.
Requirements
- Admitted in the UK, Ireland or an equivalent Commonwealth jurisdiction (such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada or South Africa).
- Likely to suit someone with 2‑4 years’ PQE. (All suitable applicants considered).
- Specialist pensions experience gained with a good commercial law firm in the UK or equivalent overseas.
- Based in (or willing to be based in) Jersey or Guernsey or interested in working remotely from a location with good access to the Channel Islands (likely to be Gatwick, the South Coast, Bristol/South West, Birmingham, or the North West).
Package
- Competitive salary (20% tax rate if Channel Islands based).
- Benefits and excellent bonus scheme.
- Relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance) if required.
Process
- Interviews will take place by videoconference.
- Start dates negotiable (depending on your notice period).
- Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation if required.
The Channel Islands
For a city‑based lawyer who thrives on big‑ticket work but craves an escape from the rat race, few places compete with the Channel Islands, home to two of the world’s premier offshore financial centres. Jersey and Guernsey have strong and highly competitive legal sectors, housing teams that number many alumni of the leading London or international outfits amongst their ranks. They do complex blue‑chip work, in a nice environment without the trappings of a big law firm culture. Work‑life balance tends to be good, leaving plenty of time to enjoy what is an enviable coastal lifestyle, and London is only an hour away making it easy to get that city fix when (or if) you need it.
