The role involves advising on a broad range of insurance coverage and liability defence matters, working closely with senior lawyers on complex, often international disputes. You will take significant responsibility for managing matters on a day-to-day basis, supervising junior lawyers, and contributing actively to client development. A strong understanding of the insurance market, including subscription risks, is essential, along with confidence in advising on policy interpretation, coverage disputes, liability defence (including professional indemnity), subrogation, and dispute resolution strategy.
This is a genuinely senior role, offering scope to take ownership of matters, build profile with key clients, and play a meaningful role in the continued growth of the practice.
The role is suited to an experienced insurance lawyer who enjoys taking ownership of workstreams, working closely with senior colleagues on complex and high-value matters, and building strong relationships with insurer and policyholder clients. You will have 8+ years’ PQE (or equivalent experience), ideally gained at a well-regarded insurance practice.
The team handles a broad and varied caseload, involving work across areas including:
- D&O and financial lines
- Cyber and technology risks
- Credit risk, political risk, and political violence
- Property damage
- Reinsurance
- Fraud
- Professional indemnity (including claims involving solicitors, accountants, brokers, and construction professionals)
- Specialty lines, including specie, personal accident, and accident & health
