High-value cross-border corporate work – elite offshore law firm – lucrative tax-free salary.
There are very few locations in the world that can offer a corporate lawyer this combination of complex top-tier legal work, dynamic career progression, and lucrative salaries, along with the many lifestyle advantages that come as standard in the Cayman Islands.
Professionally, you will be joining a team of ex-Magic Circle/US firm lawyers, advising an international client base on the offshore elements of high-value deals, with a focus on M&A, particularly in respect to the private equity and venture capital sector. Once you are up and running, you are likely to notice a marked increase in responsibility and client contact compared to a big onshore firm, so it is not the place for a ‘backroom lawyer’. However, if you are driven by a desire to do complex, technically challenging work, and you thrive in a client facing capacity, you will enjoy what is a high-performing but collegiate environment. Opportunities for development are excellent as you will be encouraged to build your network of contacts and supported in honing the skills necessary for your career to progress.
The Cayman Islands is a world-class international financial centre, offering lawyers the opportunity to do high-quality and complex work that compares favourably with that in a leading onshore law firm. Outside of work, the climate lends itself to an outdoors lifestyle whether that be diving, sailing, relaxing on the beach or enjoying a bite to eat at a waterfront restaurant. Life here is good; rarely does anyone regret making the move.
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later (depending on your notice period). Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation.
Highly attractive tax-free salary. Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package to cover flights, temporary accommodation on arrival and an expenses allowance.
This role requires applicants to have strong credentials including corporate experience gained with a leading UK/US/international law firm. Work permit requirements mean that you will need at least 3 years’ PQE by the time you arrive in Cayman (so lawyers from 2.5 years’ PQE can apply), and you will be admitted in the UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, or the Cayman Islands.
