The BVI office of this international law firm handles some outstanding cross border disputes. It is looking for an experienced commercial litigator to work closely with a senior partner, on a range of matters spanning shareholder disputes, financial services litigation, contentious trusts, and general commercial/contractual disputes.
A role here promises exposure to complex and rewarding work. You will be forming and developing coherent arguments, maintaining high-level communication with clients, liaising with international colleagues, and supporting in court work/advocacy. You will also be expected to take on an active role in client management and business development.
This is an opportunity for someone who aspires to high-end work, but who finds the rigidity of a large onshore law firm constraining. It will suit a lawyer who thrives on responsibility, who is as strong technically as they are in communicating with clients, and who craves a meritocratic environment. And someone who fancies enjoying their free time in one of the world’s most beautiful locations.
Requirements
This is expected to suit someone with between 5 and 10 years’ PQE in commercial litigation, gained with a respected onshore or offshore law firm. Qualification (Solicitor or Barrister) in the BVI or the UK is essential for work permit reasons.
British Virgin Islands
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain-forested interior surrounded by picture-postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone though. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving, or relaxing on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
Package
Attractive salary with a very low tax rate (c.8%), assistance with relocation.
