A well-established science and engineering firm based in Acton is seeking a reliable Temporary Lab Administrator to support its on-site office and laboratory operations. Working under the supervision of the Managing Engineer, this is a hands-on, keyholder position focused on ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the site. The Lab Administrator will be vital in relieving administration and operational pressures off the engineer.

Key Lab Administrator Responsibilities:

  • Receiving and dispatching packages, including photographing goods on arrival
  • Meeting cleaning and maintenance contractors on site
  • Serve as the keyholder to the site, responding to and attending fire alarm call-outs where required – must be local to Acton
  • Ordering laboratory consumables (e.g. gloves, wipes, batteries)
  • Ordering kitchen, washroom, and general site supplies
  • Supporting inventory processes, including organising and retrieving stored items
  • Entering limited data into emails to assist US-based administrators with creating evidence labels
  • Helping maintain a tidy, safe, and well-organised laboratory environment

Ideal Lab Administrator:

  • 2–3+ years experience in administration role
  • Engineering/science background is ideal but not essential
  • Available immediately
  • Trustworthy, dependable, and highly responsible (keyholder role)
  • Methodical and well-organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment containing batteries and chemicals in a hands-on, practical manner
  • Confident taking clear photographic records when required
  • Able to work independently while supporting a busy Managing Engineer
  • Local to Acton
