About the role
We are excited to invite applications for a dynamic and driven Business Development Manager to help accelerate the growth of our Major Construction segment, with a primary focus on Scotland, Europe, and support for global accounts. While the preferred location for this role is Scotland, we welcome applicants from across the UK. Reasonably frequent travel across the UK, Europe and in international locations such as Australia will be a requirement.
In this incredible role, you will play a key part in expanding our presence in major construction projects by leveraging Orica\’s cutting-edge Blasting and Digital technologies. You will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, shaping commercial strategies, and driving engagement across key markets. You will lead market analysis, strategic planning, and global relationship development, whilst working closely with Orica\’s Area Business Managers and Territory Managers to deliver tailored contracting, pricing, and product strategies.
To ensure your success, you will receive comprehensive training on Orica\’s latest innovations and collaborate regularly with our global Q&C team, expert panels, and regional business leaders.
What you will be doing
- Identify and engage with major civil and construction projects across Scotland, Europe, and global accounts.
- Develop and execute account strategies, tenders, and sales pitches aligned with global and regional teams.
- Promote Orica\’s blasting and digital solutions to new and existing customers.
- Manage a regional pipeline of opportunities, leveraging global relationships and capabilities.
- Support pricing, contracting, and customer segmentation strategies for new business.
- Provide market analysis and insights to inform commercial initiatives and growth.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement new commercial models.
- Lead or support strategic projects and business development initiatives.
What you will bring
- Proven experience in business development or commercial roles within construction or industrial sectors.
- Strong understanding of major project lifecycles and procurement processes.
- Ability to identify market trends and translate them into actionable strategies.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience with tendering, pricing, and contract negotiation.
- Strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset.
- Familiarity with digital and blasting technologies (preferred but not essential).
- Willingness to travel and collaborate across regions and cultures.
