About the role
We are looking for a Drilling Operator to join our team in Northern Ireland. This role is responsible for drilling blast holes according to the Drilling Plan, completing Driller’s Logs, arranging Rig movements, and carrying out routine maintenance on plant and equipment. You will also provide feedback to Orica Management on customer issues or opportunities and liaise with the Orica Shotfirer regarding site conditions. The role holder can be based anywhere in Northern Ireland and will be working between sites within the country, so travel is required, and a company vehicle will be provided. Safety is our priority, and we are looking for someone reliable and highly committed to our safety standards.
What you will be doing
As the Drilling Operator, you will be responsible for:
- Delivering drilling services on time and to customer specifications
- Interacting with customers on-site to address issues and provide solutions
- Ensuring edge protection is in place before the arrival of the shot firing team
- Performing routine maintenance on plant and equipment
- Providing feedback to Orica Management on customer issues or opportunities
- Ensuring compliance with Orica SHE standards and relevant country regulations
- Conducting daily and weekly pre-start and shutdown checks
- Removing waste material from site and ensuring no preventable security incursions or thefts
What you will bring
- Surface drilling experience
- Track machine experience
- Basic mechanical knowledge
- Understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and airflow systems
- Confidence in speaking with customers
- Ability to deal with on-site problems and waste products
- Computer literacy
- Experience in Drill Rig maintenance is advantageous
- Safety Passport, Health and Safety experience/training are advantageous
- Availability to work in different locations across Northern Ireland
- Driver’s license with no infractions and demonstrated driving competence
