Type: Co-Founder | Registered Director

The opportunity

Oria is a UK healthtech group with established revenue, a live platform in a regulated market that has seen very little digitisation, and a seed round in motion. We are two founders looking for a third: a technical co-founder to own the platform, join the board, and build the engineering function with us. This is a genuine co-founder position, with meaningful equity, a directorship, and full involvement in strategic decisions. The role is equity-only until the seed round completes, at which point it becomes a full-time salaried position.

What Oria is

Oria is building the operating system for UK catastrophic injury, complex care and rehabilitation. When someone suffers a life-changing injury, their journey runs through solicitors, insurers, deputies, case managers, therapists, care teams and the courts. Today that journey is largely coordinated through email chains, Word documents and spreadsheets, in a sector where clinical decisions and invoice lines may need to stand up to scrutiny in court years later.

The group is already operating: Oria Care delivers CQC-regulated complex care at home, generating £1m in annual recurring revenue with a further £450k pipeline. That gives us something relatively rare at this stage: operating proof, real clients, and revenue that supports the platform story. Oria CM is our case management arm: a panel of senior self-employed case managers (occupational therapists, physios, nurses, psychologists) working under the Oria CM banner on catastrophic injury cases, supported by our platform. Funders instruct us, we match the right case manager, and the work runs through Oria One. An incoming Director of Case Management leads this arm clinically.

Oria One is the platform that connects it all: event-sourced clinical records, append-only audit trails with cryptographic hash chains, versioned documents carrying integrity hashes, and server-enforced compliance gates. In this sector, defensibility sits at the heart of the product rather than being a feature of it. The founding team previously helped scale one of the UK's largest digital staffing platforms across the care sector, so we know this world operationally and commercially. What we have not had until now is a technical owner on the founding team, and that is the gap this role fills.

The vision: one connected pathway

Our thesis is straightforward to describe and genuinely difficult to build: the journey from referral to outcome should run on one substrate, visible live to everyone entitled to see it. Today a referral arrives by email, an assessment lives in a Word file, a care package can take weeks to mobilise through phone calls and spreadsheets, and the funder often learns what happened a month later in a PDF. We are working to replace that with a single connected pathway:

  • Structured referral intake, where funders instruct through one front door and triage happens in hours rather than weeks.
  • CM smart matching, pairing each case with the right case manager by specialism, capacity, geography and track record.
  • Carer smart matching and package mobilisation, turning a care recommendation into a live, compliant, trained care team at the client's home in significantly less time than the sector currently manages.
  • Recruitment, compliance, training triggers and go-live readiness as one coordinated workflow.
  • A rehab engine, connecting goals, outcome measures, reviews and interventions into a live picture of progress, so rehabilitation is supported by data as well as clinical judgement.
  • Live funder visibility, where solicitors, deputies and insurers see the same current truth the case manager sees, filtered to what they are authorised to view.
  • An AI layer where it genuinely adds value: document and invoice extraction, report synthesis, drafting assistance for the clinical and administrative outputs the sector runs on. Deterministic logic and human approval wherever regulation calls for it, which in this sector is often.

Some of this is live, some is designed, and some is still direction of travel. Turning that list into shipped, defensible product is the shared work of the next few years, and we are looking for someone who wants to shape it as an owner.

The mandate

An honest description of the first eighteen months:

  • Take ownership of the platform. The current build has been delivered with an external development partner. The first job is to own that relationship and the codebase, complete the build in flight, and plan the transition to an in-house engineering function that you will hire and lead post-raise. Budget for that team is in the round.
  • Own the security and compliance roadmap. Cyber Essentials through to ISO 27001, NHS DSP Toolkit, and independent penetration testing. In this market, security posture is both a sales asset and an investor question, and it needs a clear owner.
  • Represent the technology with investors. We are raising from family offices who take diligence seriously, and you would join those conversations as the technical voice of the founding team.
  • Shape the product roadmap with us. The connected pathway above is a direction rather than a finished spec, and sequencing it against commercial reality is a founding-team responsibility.

Who this fits

  • You have led engineering before: CTO, VP Engineering, Head of Engineering, or the senior engineer who in practice carried that responsibility.
  • You have experience inheriting and maturing systems as well as building new ones. Taking over an externally built codebase and raising its standard is something you have done before.
  • You have worked in or near regulated software: health, care, legal, fintech or govtech. You understand why an audit trail is a product feature and why quality and safety matter when real people's care depends on the system.
  • You are commercially literate and comfortable in front of investors as well as engineers.
  • You are in a position to work for equity for a defined period, and you value a relationship where both sides are open about runway, the round and the risks. A healthcare background is not required. Judgement, ownership and genuine motivation for the mission matter more. The people this platform ultimately serves are rebuilding their lives after catastrophic injury, and that purpose shapes the decisions we make.

The deal

Meaningful co-founder equity, granted upfront as shares with standard four-year vesting and a one-year cliff, alongside a registered directorship of the company. Equity-only until the seed round completes; a market salary begins at completion. The round is live with a target close this year. Full transparency from day one: numbers, cap table, investor pipeline, and an honest view of where everything stands.
