The Position
Reporting to the Master Data Management (MDM) Tower Lead, the Global Process Owner (GPO) for MDM is accountable for the governance and performance of MDM processes (Product, Customer, Vendor, Finance data). The role drives standardization, compliance, digital enablement, and data quality to support operational excellence and enterprise-wide data-driven decision-making. Leading a matrix organization of Business Technology (BT) partners and Process Stewards. Partnering with GPOs within ATR, OTC, STS, PTM and MTD in cross-functional teams enabling efficient and effective operations. Ability to create a highly energized environment of shared accountability and personnel excellence, with a commitment to coaching and developing others.
This leader plays a key role in shaping and aligning global data strategy, ensuring seamless integration with ERP systems (notably SAP S/4HANA), and fostering a culture of data literacy and ownership. They will be a strategic partner in Enterprise Services & Solutions (ESS) transformation programs representing Master Data perspectives.
Responsibilities
- Global Process Ownership – Master Data Management: The MDM GPO will be accountable for the efficient and effective design of the MDM processes in alignment with Organon’s strategic and operational priorities ensuring that the delivery organization is positioned for success. Own the end-to-end MDM process design and governance framework, covering Product, Customer, Vendor, and Finance data domains. Define and maintain master data standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment across domains. Lead harmonization of master data practices, ensuring consistency, scalability, and integration across decentralized functions. Drive the data lifecycle strategy, including creation, maintenance, archival aligned with regulatory and operational needs. Champion data ownership models, ensuring clear role accountability across functional and geographic domains. Partnering with the MDM GDO and MDM Governance & Data Quality Lead to ensure flawless execution of Master Data activities.
- Governance: Represent MDM within the enterprise data governance body and influence overarching data architecture and policy decisions. Establish and run governance forums and advisory councils to align stakeholders across Finance, Procurement, IT, SCM. Support the development of the strategic roadmap for MDM maturity, integrating business process, technology, and people.
- MDM Systems Oversight: Partner with BT on the selection, implementation, and maintenance of master data management systems and tools. Oversee the integration and alignment of SAP S/4 and MDG systems with MDM processes. Drive automation and digital transformation initiatives to streamline master data workflows. Serve as design authority for MDM-related technology solutions/business cases in collaboration with Business Technology (BT) and Digital Transformation teams, taking account of ROI, risk mitigation, and value realization.
- Culture, Enablement & Change Management: Champion a data-driven culture, promoting data literacy and awareness across the enterprise. Support change management and training programs to ensure consistent understanding and adoption of MDM policies and tools. Partner with analytics and organisation enabling the curation of AI-ready data.
- Support internal customers: Partner with stakeholders in order to define objectives, align expectations and ensure an “end to end” approach to process change and improvements. Design which delivers a seamless and positive customer experience for employees and stakeholders. Manage relationships through collaboration, negotiation, and influence.
Professional Education And Skills
Education Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree and 8 to 10 years of business, Supply Chain, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field OR; Bachelor’s degree and 10 to 14 years of business, Supply Chain, Operations, Information Systems, or a related field OR; Certification in data governance or data quality management. Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, Agile, or related methodologies is a plus.
Experience Required: 8+ years of experience in Master Data Management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role preferably within pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. Previous leadership experience across multiple data domains; customer, vendor, finance, and product. Experience operating within a shared services environment is an advantage. Knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, supply chain, and regulatory environments preferable. Demonstrated success in data strategy, governance, and system implementation, especially SAP S/4HANA. Expertise in data governance frameworks and master data standard methodologies. Experience developing and executing enterprise-wide transformation initiatives and managing cross-functional programs.
Skills/Competencies: Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle) and MDM tools (e.g. MDG, Informatica, Stibo Systems). Expertise in master data governance frameworks, ERP data structures, and regulatory compliance. Strong business acumen with proven experience aligning data strategy to enterprise goals. Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate within a global landscape and multiple stakeholder organizations. Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of driving and implementing transformational change in complex, global environments. Drives alignment and adoption of standardized global processes across diverse stakeholder groups. Anticipates evolving business needs and proactively adjusts process strategies to remain aligned. Ability to lead cross-functional forums and workshops to resolve conflicts, validate solutions, and build consensus.
