The Position
Reporting to the Head of Master Data Management Services and part of the MDM leadership team. The Master Data GDO oversees a wide array of critically important master data related activities across Product, Customer, Vendor and Finance data globally, enabling the compliant and uninterrupted execution of operations and transactions across all process pillars: MTD, PTM, S2S, O2C, ATR. The incumbent will lead a team responsible for MDM process governance driving value for our company portfolio and end-to-end process enablement.
Responsibilities
- People Management: Manage an extended team of ~30 master data professionals and domain specific data stewards across the globe. Ability to create a highly energized environment of exceptional performance, shared accountability, and personnel excellence, with a commitment to coaching and developing others into leadership roles. Responsible for the cycle of people management activities, including but not limited to performance check-ins, conducting conversations that count, talent management and succession planning.
- Support internal customers: Partner with stakeholders in order to define objectives, align expectations and ensure an “end to end” approach to process change and improvements. Enables 'world-class customer service' experience for founder and stakeholders. Manage relationship through collaboration, negotiation, and influence.
- Data Operations: Primary operational master data contact for business stakeholders. Responsible for the creation, maintenance and retirement of high-quality master data across all domains. Defines key performance metrics/ SLA for the execution of standard MDM processes, and manages their execution and drives process improvement. Governs adherence to standard processes and monitors process performance in alignment with Organon Audit and Compliance policies. Ensure relevant and regular communication about the MDM process to customer and stakeholder groups to secure engagement, alignment and accountability. Ensure accurate and on-time master data set up, addressing and mitigating bottleneck situations, engaging in master data improvements enabling critical business processes. Within the product master domain, connecting the various nodes of the supply chain and facilitating an end-to-end data process. Lead data management activities associated with lifecycle management which incorporate new product launches, business deals, artwork & regulatory changes, product transfers between sites and network changes. Ensure the MDM activities provide seamless support across Customer, Vendor & Finance Master as a critical partner enabling efficient and effective operations in ATR/ STS & OTC. Manage the relationship with the outsourced operational stewards in all aspects of function including but not limited to the evaluation of work product to ensure compliance with data quality standards, ensuring master data changes are processed in accordance with SLAs and maintain ongoing communication of information and feedback on business partners’ objectives.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive team analysis of data operations and data management across all process areas, identify areas of improvement, and work with the MDM GPO and Data Quality & Governance team to invest time and resources in improvements to create business value. Identifies, defines & develops strategy for continuous improvements within MDM Operations team. Develop an organizational strategic roadmap in partnership with MDM Service Tower Leadership Team, including a set of actionable and targeted management plans in line with the organization’s strategy. Driving continuous improvement, with strong leadership qualities, interpersonal and communication skills, proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, and the ability to anticipate and solve problems.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business management or a related field such as Manufacturing, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance or Accounting.
- Experience Required: Over 10 years of professional experience in Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Process Management, Project Management, Operational roles, and Supply Chain—preferably within the pharmaceutical industry. 7–10 years of leadership experience managing global operational teams and third-party support organizations, ideally with experience in shared service environments. Demonstrated success in governance, standardization, and deployment of global processes, particularly within matrix and high-pressure organizational structures. Proven ability to drive change and lead cross-functional initiatives across a dispersed and global workforce. History of working with key controls and regulatory awareness relevant to business and industry requirements.
- Skills/ Competencies required for the role: Strong SAP expertise, including SAP S/4; advanced knowledge of MS Office and business process systems. Process governance, automation, and process management capabilities. Analytical mindset with ability to define business problems and implement operational/process solutions. Leadership competencies, including team development, coaching, strategic planning, and driving high performance. Certified or experienced in Lean, Agile, or Six Sigma methodologies (certification is a plus). Exceptional communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation—enabling effective interaction with both senior stakeholders and operational teams. Highly organized, proactive, and problem-solving oriented, with the ability to multitask under tight deadlines. Comfortable operating in dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environments with a strong focus on end-to-end thinking and collaborative engagement.
