Organon is hiring a Process Safety Specialist to join our world-class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. In this role, you will provide expert process safety advice and guidance across the site, making recommendations for improvements to Engineering, Projects, and Operations. You will also support the sharing of knowledge and best practice, while contributing to the continued development and enhancement of our Process Safety Management Systems.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead all site process safety management activities, providing guidance for operations and projects, including management of change and support for near-miss and incident investigations.
- Own and maintain the site EPD, ensuring routine reviews, updates, and verification or testing of material flammability data.
- Own the site PHA programme, ensuring revalidation is completed to schedule and new systems are added appropriately.
- Provide expertise for process safety risk assessments such as HAZOP, LOPA and ATEX/DSEAR, whether delivered internally or via external resources.
- Act as the “intelligent customer” when engaging third parties, ensuring high-quality technical input for studies such as PHA and mechanical ignition risk assessments.
- Ensure process safety documentation delivered through projects is accurate, complete and properly maintained.
- Track, drive and verify completion of actions arising from assessments using established site systems.
- Provide ownership and oversight of process safety procedures, including recommending updates through approved governance forums.
Skills, Qualifications & Education
- Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Experience within a process engineering discipline.
- Excellent communication skills and strong stakeholder engagement.
- Able to work collaboratively as part of a team or independently, depending on project or work demands.
- Ability to interpret data and regulations, and to prepare and present reports for senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence.
- Adaptable to evolving regulations and technologies.
