Organon is hiring an Engineering PMO Lead to join our world‑class manufacturing site in Cramlington, Northumberland. The Engineering Project Management Office (PMO) is a well‑established function within the Engineering organisation, focused on strengthening project delivery capability and ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives and regulatory requirements.
To further enhance this capability, we are seeking an Engineering PMO Lead to lead and continuously develop PMO operations, while providing strategic ownership of the site’s minor capital portfolio, typically comprising projects valued between $10,000 and $1 million. The annual value of this portfolio is $8.1 million. In this role, the Engineering PMO Lead will embed consistent project delivery practices, improve portfolio‑level visibility, and enable disciplined execution within regulated environments.
Alongside PMO leadership responsibilities, the role will support and guide project managers and functional teams in developing robust business cases and execution strategies for minor capital investments. The focus of this position is on governance, compliance, and alignment with site priorities, rather than direct hands‑on project delivery.
Acting as a central hub for delivery excellence, the Engineering PMO Lead will support a broad portfolio of engineering activities, including facility upgrades, equipment installations, compliance‑driven improvements, and construction projects. Working closely with engineering leadership, the role will serve as process owner, capability builder, performance steward, strategic partner, and continuous improvement champion—shaping how projects are planned, governed, and delivered across the site. This role offers hybrid working, combining office‑based collaboration with the flexibility of working from home.
Role Responsibilities
- Lead and evolve the site‑level Engineering PMO strategy, acting as a trusted advisor to engineering leadership to ensure projects align with business priorities and regulatory expectations.
- Own and continuously improve PMO governance, standards, and delivery frameworks across GMP and non‑GMP environments, ensuring compliance and consistency.
- Build project management capability across engineering through coaching, training, tools, and best‑practice templates, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Provide portfolio‑level visibility and reporting, tracking progress, risks, and trends to enable timely, data‑driven decision‑making.
- Drive effective cross‑functional collaboration, ensuring alignment of priorities, resources, and delivery outcomes across project teams and stakeholders.
- Hold strategic ownership of the site minor capital portfolio, ensuring projects align with business needs, compliance requirements, and long‑term planning.
- Support the development of high‑quality business cases and execution strategies, ensuring clarity of scope, cost, benefits, and adherence to PMO governance.
- Contribute to the Site Masterplan and Long‑Range Capital Plan, providing insight into portfolio trends, future investment needs, and continuous improvement opportunities.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Degree‑level qualification in Engineering, Project Management, Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience will be considered.
- Experience leading PMO functions or delivering projects within regulated or complex operational environments (e.g. pharmaceuticals, life sciences, manufacturing).
- Strong capability in project governance, portfolio management, and capital planning frameworks.
- Experience supporting or overseeing capital project portfolios, including minor capital investments.
- Familiarity with GMP, validation processes, or other regulated environments, with transferable experience considered.
- Excellent communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across levels.
- Strong financial acumen to support capital planning and business case development.
- Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies (e.g. MS Project, PRINCE2, Agile, MSP) and a commitment to continuous improvement and regulatory compliance.
