Valoris Group is supporting a well-regarded and growing renewable energy contractor in the search for a hands-on Solar PV Project Manager. This role is pivotal as the company scales operations across both commercial and domestic solar PV installations.
The business currently has 45 directly employed engineers working on sites and is preparing to ramp up residential volume following an upcoming marketing campaign. The successful candidate must be comfortable operating in both commercial and domestic settings, with an anticipated split shifting from 50/50 to 70/30 domestic in the near term.
The Role
You will take full ownership of projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover. The role will be split between site and office, offering a mix of project management, procurement, and technical delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging projects end-to-end
- Coordinate site staff, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
- Handle procurement and ordering of materials
- Carry out site inspections, RAMS, and H&S audits
- Provide training and support to field engineers on solar installs
- Oversee documentation, certification, and commissioning processes
- Ensure systems are integrated with manufacturer monitoring platforms
- Maintain client communication and ensure project satisfaction
Requirements
- Strong background in both commercial and domestic solar PV installation
- Experience across solar PV, battery storage, and EV charging systems
- Comfortable operating in a hybrid office/site management role
- Familiar with ordering materials and managing field engineers
- Holds (or has held) direct site responsibility and oversight
Essential Qualifications:
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- 2391 Inspection & Testing
- ECS/CSCS Card
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- Valid UK Driving Licence
Desirable:
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to undergo one required for domestic work)
- Immediate disclosure of any criminal convictions is mandatory
- Any formal courses or CPD in solar PV, battery storage, or renewables is advantageous
