Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Working Hours: 45 hours per week; Monday to Friday; 8:00am – 6:00pm (1-hour unpaid lunch)
The HIU Engineer will carry out servicing, commissioning, fault-finding, and remedial repairs to Heat Interface Units (HIUs) within occupied and unoccupied properties. All works must be completed in accordance with manufacturer instructions, client specifications, and current health and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Service and repair Heat Interface Units (HIUs) in line with manufacturer specifications
- Carry out full commissioning of HIU heating units and associated controls
- Diagnose faults and undertake repairs or replacement of defective components
- Drain down and refill heating systems to replace leaking radiators or isolation valves
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including risk assessments and asbestos awareness
- Work independently in a lone-working environment
- Provide excellent customer service when working in occupied properties
- Complete all required documentation accurately and in a timely manner
- Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested
- Valid full UK Driving Licence
- CSCS Card
- Asbestos Awareness certification
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Experience servicing or commissioning heating systems (HIU experience advantageous but training provided)
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work methodically, safely, and with minimal supervision
- Experience working within occupied social housing or residential properties
- Understanding of risk assessment processes
- Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Experience working with vulnerable residents
- Manual handling, confined space, or health & safety training certifications
- Previous experience in social housing environments
- 21 days holiday, increasing by 1 day every 2 years (up to 25 days) plus statutory holidays
