A renowned neighbourhood institution with years of heritage is looking for a Sous Chef to support the Head Chef in running its busy, multi-outlet kitchen operation in St John’s Wood. The kitchen produces for a deli counter, ready-to-eat meals, breakfast/lunch service, and a popular dining terrace. The menu celebrates seasonality, Jewish and Eastern European classics, and top-quality produce — from schnitzel and chopped liver to soups, granola and picnic hampers.
THE ROLE
- Support the Head Chef across all daily kitchen operations: service, prep, production
- Help manage a brigade of 4–6 chefs
- Maintain standards in food quality, safety, hygiene and EHO compliance
- Contribute to seasonal dish development and menu updates
- Ensure smooth ordering and stock control
- Mostly day shifts – latest finish 6:00 pm (occasional evenings)
- 5 days per week
- Total team on site: 65 (Retail / Warehouse / Sales / Hospitality)
YOU’LL NEED
- Solid experience as Sous Chef or strong Junior Sous in a quality, high-volume kitchen
- Great communication and a calm, focused presence on shift
- Interest in classic flavours, modern deli food and quality produce
- Strong understanding of kitchen systems and compliance
- A collaborative mindset – many of the team have been here 10+ years

- Salary: circa £40,000 depending on experience
