We are looking for capable and enthusiastic assistant growers to join our team. Field 28 is looking to strengthen its existing team as our operation continues to expand. We grow a wide range of produce, including vegetables, salads, herbs, microgreens and edible flowers that we supply to some of the top restaurants in the country including our own award‑winning restaurants in Chester. We also grow and supply cut flowers, garden plants and hanging baskets to our Farm Shop and to florists. We are increasing the cut flower growing part of our business for the coming season and are seeking a grower with a passion to ensure we produce the highest quality of flowers and seasonal vegetables.
Your role will be to work alongside the lead growers, to grow, maintain and harvest our range of high‑quality produce, using low‑till and organic principles and practices, and to help maintain the site to a high standard.
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday and one Saturday a month in rotation with other team members. We operate flexible working hours that suit the needs of our employees and the business through the seasons.
Personal Specification
- Essential: Minimum 1 year experience in outdoor growing, horticulture or indoor growing.
- Good knowledge of plant propagation, growth and cultivation.
- Good knowledge of mixed vegetable production.
- The ability to carry out horticultural tasks quickly and efficiently.
- Working in the garden is a physically demanding job and applicants should be highly motivated and be able to work quickly and efficiently while still maintaining high standards of work.
- Desirable: Experience in a market garden setting.
- Experience of organic and no‑dig growing.
- Knowledge and experience of microgreen production.
- Knowledge and experience of British‑grown cut flower production.
- Floristry skills.
- Experience of using garden machinery including walking tractors.
- Weed, pest and disease identification.
- Clean UK driving licence.
