The Site Maintenance Engineer will be a key member of the Engineering team, providing comprehensive maintenance support across all manufacturing and production facilities at Orean Personal Care. This hands-on role is critical to ensuring equipment uptime, reliability, and safety while supporting a wide range of site engineering projects. A key function of this role is the involvement in planning, installation and commissioning of new plant and equipment, making this an exciting opportunity for an engineer who thrives in a dynamic, evolving environment. This role is pivotal in supporting both the day-to-day running of the site and the exciting growth phase through the installation of new equipment and production capabilities.

The Responsibilities:

  • New Equipment Installation: Actively support and lead on the installation, commissioning, and integration of new production and packaging equipment as part of strategic site expansion and improvement projects.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of production equipment to support continuous manufacturing operations.
  • Planned Maintenance: Deliver tasks in line with the annual Planned Maintenance (PM) schedule to improve asset reliability.
  • Refurbishment and Upgrades: Carry out refurbishments, upgrades, and modifications to existing machinery to ensure ongoing suitability and efficiency.
  • Downtime Management: Maximise downtime to overhaul and enhance equipment performance.
  • TPM Delivery: Implement Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) routines across all production sections.
  • Project Involvement: Contribute to site-based engineering projects, offering input on machinery layout, process flow, and technical solutions.
  • Contractor Supervision: Oversee external contractors on-site for both maintenance and capital projects, ensuring work is completed safely and to standard.
  • Asset Management: Identify underperforming equipment and recommend or implement cost-effective solutions to restore or improve functionality.
  • Safety & Compliance: Carry out all work in line with health and safety regulations, ensuring relevant permits and authorisations are obtained where necessary.
  • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of maintenance tasks, equipment history, and compliance checks.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure alignment on production schedules, improvements, and equipment needs.
  • Business support: As this is a key role within the business, a certain number of out-of-hours support will be required.
  • Any other duties: As required by the Head of Engineering.

The Skills:

  • Qualifications: City & Guilds (or equivalent) in an Engineering discipline. Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience in a technical or maintenance field.
  • Technical Skills: Strong mechanical engineering knowledge with good practical understanding of control systems. Skilled in fault diagnosis and repair across electrical, electronic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems. Experience in installing and commissioning production equipment is essential.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing or FMCG maintenance environment, ideally with exposure to cosmetics, food, or pharmaceutical sectors. Proven involvement in equipment upgrades and capital projects. Experience working with Mixing Vessels. Experience on Plant Machinery – Boilers, Compressors, Chillers. Experience with Container Filling, Labelling and Tube Filling & Packaging Machinery would be advantageous.
  • Practical and hands-on, with a strong sense of ownership. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across all departments. Proactive approach with strong initiative and flexibility. Strong awareness of manufacturing priorities and the need for timely equipment availability.
