Key Responsibilities of the Hygiene Technician:- Drive hygiene awareness and help prevent microbiological contamination across the factory.
- Perform scheduled cleaning and sanitisation, including deep-cleans, wash-outs, floor cleaning, and maintaining walkways.
- Liaise with Shift Managers and Planning / Production Teams to ensure cleaning tasks are coordinated effectively.
- Manage hygiene team daily priorities and support training of new hygiene staff.
- Collect and catalogue samples for microbiological testing; coordinate submission to external labs and track results on return.
- Conduct routine swabbing and environmental monitoring as required.
- Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of cleaning and wash-out chemicals in line with COSHH regulations.
- Report any health & safety incidents, risks, damage or poor practices; help maintain equipment used for hygiene tasks (e.g. floor scrubs, wash-out systems).
- Provide support during spill response or containment when necessary.
- Experience in a fast-moving consumer-goods environment — preferably in personal care, pharmaceutical or food manufacturing.
- Strong attention to detail and a meticulous approach to cleanliness, record-keeping and process compliance.
- Basic IT skills (e.g. MS Office) for logging results, managing cleaning schedules and documentation.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work closely with colleagues at all levels.
- Flexibility around working hours — as hygiene needs may vary with shifts or production schedules.
- A proactive attitude, a drive for continuous improvement and a commitment to safety, quality and the company’s core values.
