Field Surveyor Roles (South West & North of England Teams)

Field Surveyor (full time) Salary Β£31,971 – Β£37,299 (dependent on experience)

About the role

Are you resilient and self-motivated? Do you enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions, have a keen eye for detail, and thrive in remote, independent roles within the built environment?

We\’re looking to add to our geographical distribution of Field Surveyors, with some key vacancies to be filled in the Plymouth area as part of our South West Production team or in the North of England team working in either North Yorkshire or Cumbria with the ability to work nationwide.

As an OS Surveyor you will plan, collect, assess, edit and maintain geospatial information using relevant survey methods to meet customer requirements. Are you keen to be part of the field capture side to the geospatial information industry, a surveyor, and keen to learn? You may have qualifications, equivalent experience, or have a passion for this type of work. We are open to conversations with suitable candidates.

Survey tools including GNSS and Total Station, Data Capture/Collection tools such as tablets & mobile phones, Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

What we\’re looking for

  • Good communication and problem-solving skills

  • Good organisational skills

  • Good at working independently

  • Geospatially focused, you may be academically qualified or have work experience specifically using geographic information systems (GIS), but we are open to all applications

  • Ability to use and understand geodata, structure, attribution, capture and edit platforms for geospatial uses (Desirable)

  • Aptitude for working outdoors in all weathers and conditions

  • Able to deliver to defined requirements/specifications

  • Spatial awareness

  • Good learner and a desire to continuously improve

  • Team player, particularly as part of a dispersed team

  • Able to travel, with overnight stays in Great Britain

  • Previous experience working with geospatial data (Desirable)

  • Full UK driving license

Location

Field Surveyor (South West Team) – Plymouth

Field Surveyor (North of England Team) – Thirsk / Harrogate / Wetherby Area

Field Surveyor (North of England Team) – Cumbria

This role is a UK Home Working role where you will be based remotely from home or in the field, then travel from there.

  • Surveyors need to live in a specified location, or willing to relocate to an agreed area before joining the field or on completion of initial training

  • Surveyors will need to work from home, with a suitable workspace

  • Spatial awareness is essential, and we\’ll test this as part of selection process

  • Successful candidates must be available for a period of training at our Head Office in Southampton, or in training blocks throughout the year at regionally based locations if appropriate
