Job Summary
Orchard Therapeutics, a Kyowa Kirin Company, is a global biotechnology gene therapy company dedicated to transforming the lives of people affected by rare diseases through the development of innovative, potentially curative gene therapies. Our ex vivo autologous gene therapy approach harnesses the power of genetically modified blood stem cells and seeks to correct the underlying cause of disease in a single administration. This position reports into the Senior Director, Business Operations for the Technical Operations function and the successful candidate will play an essential role in supporting, facilitating and coordinating processes, activities and initiatives that the Tech Ops Business Operations function drives including process improvement, project coordination, procurement & contract support and employee engagement initiatives.
To be successful in this role you will need strong organizational and multitasking skills, proficient IT skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word and excellent interpersonal & communication skills. In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional teams & senior leaders to support the achievement of the department’s goals & develop the organisational and communication skills critical for future project leadership roles.
Key Elements and Responsibilities
- Identify & drive OpEx to drive continuous improvement projects and establishing best practices & governance.
- Provide project coordination support across departmental initiatives, including scheduling, tracking deliverables, managing documentation, and facilitating effective communication among stakeholders.
- Build and maintain consolidated project overview of key technical deliverables.
- Provide precise reporting and content coordination for technical teams.
- Contribute ideas and lead the organisation of engagement initiatives while contributing to an engaging culture in Tech Ops & QA functions.
- Support contract review and approval processes & co-ordinate procurement activities.
- Design and generate presentations/materials to support departmental communication processes.
- Enhance departmental governance support by maintaining a cadence of leadership team meetings and workshops for technical functions.
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Demonstrated experience as an operations or project coordinator, or similar role preferably within the biotechnology sector.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to develop effective working relationships.
- Process orientated and able to maintain a high level of accuracy and consistent attention to detail.
- Reliable, with excellent time-management and organisational skills, the ability to prioritise, anticipate and resolve challenges and deliver results to demanding deadlines.
- A strong team player with a flexible and customer-focused approach.
- Strong IT skills including Word & Powerpoint.
- Familiarity with Operational Excellence / Lean program coordination.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Education
BSc or relevant industry experience in biotechnology, biological sciences, gene therapy, analytical development, or an operational excellence discipline. Some experience in a coordinator role in a tech ops, procurement, project or operations function ideally in the pharma industry.
