Our leading Douglas-based Finance Sector Client with an international focus are enjoying a busy workload within their Compliance and Risk function. To support this, they have an opportunity for an AML Compliance Officer to join an established team.

The AML Compliance Officer as part of the Group Compliance team, takes a proactive role in ensuring that the company and its subsidiary companies understand and are compliant with their respective legal and regulatory obligations and accountabilities on a continuing basis, promoting and sustaining a sound compliance culture, carrying out monitoring of internal policies and ensuring all regulatory submission deadlines are met throughout the course of the financial year.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Actively contribute to the day-to-day activities of the AML Compliance Team, in line with the overarching objectives of the Group Risk and Compliance (GRC) Department
  • Carry out regular AML compliance monitoring in line with the Group Compliance Assurance Monitoring Framework
  • Analyse the results of AML compliance monitoring and make recommendations on any necessary changes to the operational procedures
  • Assist with the preparation and delivery of AML training, carry out checks on sanctions lists, and assist in the investigation of AML breaches
  • Undertake administrative services for the AML Compliance Team, including the maintenance of the appropriate Group Registers
  • Provide guidance and support to staff across the Group
  • Undertake ad hoc project work as determined by the Group MLRO, as necessary
  • Assist and support the MLRO in regulatory inspections and any subsequent regulatory remediation
  • Assist and maintain an effective and fit for purpose AML framework, which guides and defines organisational behaviours, provides a clear context for business decision-making and positively influences the performance of functional and operational activities across the Group
  • Provide active support to the MLRO and DMLRO to ensure that the Life Companies of the Group and their service providers and employees remain cognisant of and compliant with their respective regulatory obligations and proactively maintain adequate, effective and auditable policies, procedures, reporting mechanisms and training materials
  • Proactively promote and support a positive compliance culture across the Group and assist with the preparation and delivery of Compliance training to ensure all colleagues remain cognisant of and compliant with their respective regulatory obligations

The ideal candidate for the role of AML Compliance Officer will be:

  • ICA qualified to Certificate level or currently studying towards an ICA qualification.
  • First-hand experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry (min 2 years)
  • Demonstrate good knowledge of the legal and regulatory frameworks which govern the insurance or financial service sectors in multiple jurisdictions
  • Knowledge and understanding of risk management, internal control and corporate governance principles and practices
  • Working knowledge of regulatory risk and the appropriate means for detection, investigation and prevention
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and a willingness to share knowledge and expertise in compliance tools and techniques
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflict and interact effectively with the senior management team
  • Proactively manage own workload and performance in a busy and challenging environment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of ethics and integrity
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written, to a wide range of audiences
  • Competent in Microsoft applications: Including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Desirable: Knowledge of MS Sharepoint
