Overview
In this role you will lead the Group Compliance Department, upholding the DMLRO status and ensuring fitness and propriety. You will work with cross-group colleagues to foster compliant practices and culture, shaping governance and risk frameworks. You’ll develop and monitor a robust compliance programme and support effective, ethics-driven decision-making. This is a strategic position with oversight of regulatory submissions and AML training, offering impact across the organisation.
Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate the Compliance Department and build positive cross-group relationships
- Develop, maintain and oversee concise compliance frameworks guiding organisational practice
- Influence compliance culture and ensure effective decision-making through governance and policies
- Design and deliver a monitoring programme integrated with third-line assurance
- Collaborate with business units to improve customer outcomes through compliant processes
- Support continuous improvement and uphold core group values in performance and behaviour
- Oversee regulatory submission obligations and timetables throughout the year
- Support corporate strategies related to risk management, internal control, governance and probity
- Provide training, education and AML awareness and support MLRO when needed
Key requirements
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior compliance role with proven staff management
- Substantive knowledge of sector-specific legal and regulatory frameworks
- Strong understanding of data protection and GDPR implications
- Solid grasp of risk management, internal control and corporate governance
- Ethics and integrity oriented with experience in fraud risk detection and prevention
- Strong communication skills across diverse audiences
- Ability to apply research, investigation, process, project management and data analysis skills
- Calm under pressure and resilient in a busy environment
- Proficient in Microsoft applications and SharePoint
