Overview
In this role you will lead a team of accountants and bookkeepers to deliver timely, accurate financial statements under UK GAAP. You will manage the accounting workflow, coordinate with Trust Administration, and liaise with clients and auditors to ensure high-quality outputs. You will drive profitability through smarter billing and change initiatives that improve efficiency and headcount planning. As a key partner to the Head of Accounting, you will mentor staff, support technical queries, and report performance against KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of accountants and bookkeepers at various levels
- Plan and prioritise accounting workflow; ensure timely statements
- Coordinate with Trust Administration Teams to clear queries and finalise statements
- Engage with clients, auditors and third parties professionally
- Improve profitability through billing structures and timely invoicing of accounting fees
- Support change initiatives to improve operating efficiency and headcount planning
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality financial statements in line with UK GAAP
- Prepare and review complex financial statements; support technical queries
- Generate accurate management information and meet KPIs
- Provide guidance, coaching and CPD adherence to staff
- Collaborate with Head of Accounting on strategic initiatives
Key requirements
- ACCA or ACA qualification
- Relevant Trust Accounting experience in fiduciary services
- At least 5 years of people management experience
- Knowledge of statutory requirements
- Technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP/FRS102)
- Experience with Tax Reporting
- Ability to communicate and present at Board level
