We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer to lead site engineering operations on a major healthcare construction project in Scarborough. The scheme includes the development of a two-storey, 6,240 sqm facility featuring a 26-bed critical/enhanced care unit, CT scanning facilities, and modernised infrastructure.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership on site, oversee engineering teams, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure works are delivered safely, accurately, and in accordance with project specifications from inception through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Engineering
- Review and interpret construction drawings and specifications to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Manage the setting out process and oversee site and assistant engineers
- Identify and resolve engineering and logistical challenges proactively
- Lead engineering meetings and coordinate with consultants to develop technical solutions
- Support value engineering initiatives and continuous improvement of engineering processes
- Contribute to the implementation of new technologies and engineering systems
- Plan and manage engineering activities to keep works on programme and within budget
- Prepare short-term programmes and allocate resources effectively
- Coordinate site teams and subcontractors to deliver work safely and efficiently
- Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation
- Ensure compliance with company health, safety, quality, and environmental standards
- Review and implement risk assessments and method statements
- Monitor site safety performance and intervene where unsafe practices occur
- Promote a proactive safety culture through reporting and positive interventions
- Support subcontract procurement by reviewing technical proposals
- Monitor subcontractor performance and review dayworks and records with the commercial team
- Assist with cost estimates for specific sections of work
- Support the implementation of BIM Level 2 processes and ensure effective data management across the project.
