We are looking for a motivated Quantity Surveyor to join a busy interior fit-out and refurbishment team based in Wakefield city centre. You will support cost management and commercial delivery on a variety of commercial interior re-fit projects (offices, retail spaces, hospitality venues, etc.) under the guidance of senior leadership. This is a great opportunity to develop your career in a creative, fast-paced environment working across multiple fit-out programmes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of accurate cost estimates, bills of quantities, and cost plans for interior re-fit projects.
- Support tender and procurement processes, including issuing enquiries to subcontractors and suppliers.
- Prepare material take-offs, measure drawings, and review design specifications to inform cost evaluations.
- Cost tracking and budget control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist with the preparation of interim valuations, variations, and final accounts.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor quotations and proposals.
- Keep commercial records (cost reports, change orders, correspondence) up to date.
- Work closely with project teams to ensure financial targets and client budgets are maintained.
- Support Senior Quantity Surveyors with risk analysis and value engineering initiatives.
- Attend site meetings and provide commercial support to project delivery teams.
Person Specification
Essential
- Educated to HNC/HND/BSc level in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or working towards CQMS/RICS).
- Some relevant experience (work placement, internship or entry-level in construction/fit-out environment).
- Basic knowledge of construction costs, measurement techniques, and commercial procedures.
- Good numerical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with cost estimating software desirable.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with project teams.
Desirable
- Awareness of fit-out contracts (JCT, NEC etc.) and commercial terms.
- Understanding of interior fit-out workflows for commercial clients.
- Experience with cost reporting and procurement processes.
