An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator / Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in supporting tendering processes and enhancing commercial performance across a variety of civil engineering projects. This role offers an excellent platform for professional growth within a collaborative and forward-thinking team.
This hybrid position provides exposure to both pre-contract and post-contract phases, blending cost estimation, bid preparation, and financial management to ensure projects deliver value from inception through to completion. You’ll play a pivotal part in driving the commercial success of each scheme.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare detailed time, cost, material, and labour estimates from project documentation.
- Analyse tender documents and develop competitive bids.
- Identify and mitigate commercial risks.
- Undertake feasibility studies and cost planning.
- Monitor project progress, assess variations and manage claims.
- Collaborate closely with project teams and clients to achieve cost-effective delivery.
- Prepare interim valuations and final accounts.
- Produce detailed financial and performance reports.
- Support value engineering and risk management initiatives.
- Appraise new opportunities across projects and workstreams.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in estimating or quantity surveying within civil engineering.
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of NEC and JCT contract forms.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and cost structures.
- Skilled in project budgeting and commercial control.
- Proficient with estimating software (desirable).
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
- Full, clean UK driving licence (regular site visits required).
- Competitive salary: £55,000 - £65,000
