Overview

We are working with a well-respected Dental practice in the south of the island in support of their requirement for a further qualified Dentist / Associate Dentist.

Reporting to the Practice Principal / Clinical Lead, the Dentist here you will provide high-quality, safe and patient-centred dental care to NHS andprivate patients at the Surgery, in accordance with current professional standards, regulatory requirements and the policies and procedures of the practice.

You will assess, diagnose, treatment plan and provide appropriate dental treatment, while maintaining accurate clinical records and ensuring patients receive appropriate information regarding their treatment and oral health.

Wider duties will include

Clinical Care

  • Undertake comprehensive dental examinations, assessments and diagnosis
  • Develop appropriate, evidence-based treatment plans in partnership with patients
  • Provide general dental treatment to NHS and private patients within the dentist's scope of practice and level of competence
  • Provide preventative, restorative and routine dental care as clinically appropriate
  • Discuss treatment options, risks, benefits and costs with patients and obtain valid consent before treatment
  • Refer patients appropriately where treatment falls outside the dentist's scope of practice or requires specialist care
  • Monitor patients' oral health and provide appropriate preventive and oral health advice
  • Recognise and appropriately manage urgent dental presentations
  • Patient Care and Communication
  • Maintain a professional, respectful and patient-centred approach at all times
  • Communicate clearly with patients and colleagues, taking account of individual needs and circumstances
  • Provide patients with appropriate information to enable them to make informed decisions regarding their dental care
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant data protection requirements
  • Respond appropriately to patient concerns and complaints and escalate matters where required
  • Clinical Records and Governance
  • Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and complete clinical records
  • Comply with practice policies, clinical governance requirements and relevant regulatory standards
  • Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control standards
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and raise concerns appropriately
  • Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement and practice governance activities as required
  • Report and manage clinical incidents and adverse events in accordance with practice procedures
  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain current GDC registration and comply with all professional requirements necessary to practise dentistry in the Isle of Man
  • Maintain appropriate continuing professional development and professional competence
  • Work within professional knowledge, skills and competence and seek appropriate advice or referral where necessary
  • Maintain awareness of developments in dentistry and relevant clinical and regulatory guidance
  • Work collaboratively with dental nurses, reception staff, other clinicians and the wider practice team
  • Attend relevant practice meetings, training and professional development activities as required
  • NHS and Private Dentistry
  • Provide treatment in accordance with applicable NHS requirements and contractual obligations when treating NHS patients
  • Provide private treatment in accordance with practice procedures and agreed treatment plans
  • Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative records for both NHS and private care
  • Support the development and maintenance of an appropriate NHS and private patient base through high standards of clinical care and patient service
  • The ideal candidate for the role of Dentist / Associate Dentist will be:

Essential

  • Qualified dentist with the appropriate professional registration/eligibility to practise in the Isle of Man
  • GDC registration or ability to obtain and maintain the required registration
  • NHS Performer Number or eligibility to obtain one, where required for the role
  • Ability to provide safe and effective general dental care
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary practice team
  • Commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining professional competence

Desirable

  • Previous experience working in a mixed NHS and private dental practice
  • Experience in providing a broad range of general dental treatments
  • Interest in developing NHS and private clinical experience
  • Experience of working within a digital dental practice environment
