About The Role
As General Manager, you will play a key leadership role in day‑to‑day operations, ensuring the home runs safely, smoothly, and in line with regulatory and Orchard Care Homes’ quality standards. You will act as the person in charge in the absence of the Home Manager and help cultivate a culture of warmth, professionalism, and truly person‑centred care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, supervise, and motivate care teams to deliver compassionate, high‑quality care.
- Support the Home Manager with daily operations, compliance, and inspections.

- Support staffing functions, including supervision, training, induction, and team meetings.
- Promote a positive, resident‑focused culture aligned with Orchard’s values of respect, trust, and care.
About You
We’re looking for a caring, confident leader who can inspire teams, support high standards, and lead by example. We would especially welcome someone who has experience managing a smaller care home or service, and is now ready to step up into a larger, more complex environment while still keeping a hands‑on, person‑centred approach.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a senior or leadership role within a care home setting.
- Level 5 Leadership & Management for Adult Care.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to prioritise, stay organised, and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Compassionate, resident‑focused approach with a commitment to dignity and independence.

- Career development from day one, with clear progression pathways.
- Hundreds of colleague discounts every month across shopping, holidays, dining, tech, and more.
- Excellent employee recognition schemes such as ‘Making a Difference’ award and Long Service Awards.
- Free emotional, practical, and financial support that’s fully confidential, through an Employee Assistance Programme helpline and wellbeing app that’s available 24/7, all year round.
- Company‑supported pension scheme to invest in your future.
- Fully funded DBS check.
