The Role: Dive Technician – Aberdeen
ORCA is seeking an experienced Mechanical or Electrical Dive Technician to join our onshore team based in Altens, Aberdeen. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a skilled and collaborative workshop environment, supporting diving operations across the North Sea and on international projects.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and certification of diving system equipment—ensuring all assets are maintained to the highest standards and ready for deployment. This is a technically challenging and rewarding role suited to a technician with strong mechanical or electrical competency and experience in diving support systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, inspection, and testing of diving equipment, including dive control systems, LARS, compressors, umbilicals, hydraulic tools, and associated components.
- Ensure all equipment complies with IMCA, DNV, UK HSE, and internal operational standards.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, tooling registers, and spare-parts management with full traceability.
- Prepare equipment for mobilisation and demobilisation, ensuring all certification and documentation is current and complete.
- Provide technical input on equipment specifications, layouts, and personnel requirements during the tendering process.
- Support internal and external audits, ensuring documentation, certificates, and test records are correctly maintained.
- Promote a strong HSEQ culture and actively contribute to safety-related activities within the workshop.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working with diving systems in an onshore and/or offshore environment.
- HNC/HND or NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical, Marine, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Solid knowledge of IMCA and UK HSE requirements for commercial diving operations.
- Proven experience with:
- Surface-supplied and saturation diving systems
- Dive control systems, LARS, compressors, and gas panels
- Reading schematics, troubleshooting faults, and managing pre-mob/demob cycles
- IMCA-recognised Diving Technician Certificate (Mechanical or Electrical)
- Familiarity with major manufacturers and OEM requirements
- Certifications in forklift operation, rigging/lifting, or pressure testing
