ORCA Computing (“ORCA”) is at the forefront of a new era in high-performance computing, developing full-stack photonic quantum systems designed to transform how organisations tackle machine learning, generative AI, and complex optimisation challenges in data centre environments. Headquartered in London, ORCA has delivered eleven on-premises quantum computers worldwide – demonstrating that its technology is not theoretical but already delivering real world results.
At the core of ORCA’s innovation is its hybrid quantum-classical architecture, engineered for seamless integration into existing AI and HPC infrastructure. ORCA PT Series quantum systems are room temperature and rack-mounted which connect directly to GPU clusters via NVIDIA’s CUDA-Q platform, enabling accelerated AI workloads delivering advantages over traditional silicon-based systems. Backed by a strong portfolio of patent families spanning photonic integrated circuits, quantum memory, and multiplexing technologies, ORCA is enabling enterprises, research institutions, and HPC operators to unlock new levels of performance, efficiency, and scalability.
With the recent launch its next-generation PT-3 system, ORCA is entering a pivotal phase of growth and technological advancement. Its solutions are already being embedded into generative AI pipelines, delivering measurable improvements in model performance, while also addressing the rising energy demands of large-scale AI adoption. With a focus on practical deployment and a clear roadmap to fault-tolerant quantum computing, ORCA is leading the development and deployment of quantum technology, providing a commercially viable path to the future of computing.
What you’ll do:
- Project planning: You will support the project managers and project leads across engineering, commercial, and R&D in running key cross-functional workstreams — keeping plans up to date with designated owners, timelines, and next steps, tracking milestones, and escalating dependencies between teams early.
- Delivery coordination: You will keep day-to-day delivery on track — scheduling meetings and preparing agendas, booking resources, maintaining action logs and risk registers, following up on tasks and deliverables against deadlines, and escalating bottlenecks to the project managers early.
- Reporting & documentation: You will compile status updates for senior project managers , maintain the trackers and templates the team uses to plan and report (suggesting improvements where you see them), and keep project records — including SharePoint folders and file archives — to a standard that stands up to audit and compliance.
- Procurement & finance: You will own day-to-day procurement — raising purchase orders, reconciling invoices, ordering materials, liaising with external suppliers, and tracking project expenditure against budget with sign-off from senior project managers.
- Stock control: You will take ownership of stock control — maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels and reordering when needed, carrying out regular stock checks, and making sure materials and components are stored, labelled, and tracked properly.
- Logistics & shipping: You will coordinate shipping, customs clearance, and logistics so that hardware and materials (from optical components to complete quantum systems) arrive where they’re needed, when they’re needed, including at customer sites around the world.
- Team administration: You will look after day-to-day team administration, including preparing timesheets.
What you’ll bring:
Essential skills and experience:
- Experience in a project coordination, administration, or operations support role, ideally juggling several workstreams at once.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of producing clear status reports, meeting notes, and stakeholder updates.
- Microsoft 365 (particularly Excel and SharePoint) and project tooling such as Jira, Asana, Notion, or Confluence, and comfortable picking up new systems quickly.
- Highly organised and able to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Numerate and accurate, and comfortable handling purchase orders, invoices, budgets, and stock records.
- Comfortable working alongside technical teams and translating between technical detail and operational reality.
Nice to have:
- Prior experience in a deeptech, hardware, or scientific R&D environment.
- Exposure to project management frameworks (e.g. PRINCE2, Agile) or an entry-level qualification such as PRINCE2 Foundation or CAPM.
- Experience with procurement, stock control or inventory management, shipping, or customs documentation.
- Familiarity with customer delivery or deployment coordination in a B2B context.
- An interest in quantum computing, photonics, or advanced computing more broadly.
Who we’relooking for:
- Attention to detail: You take care over the details — purchase orders, records, and schedules — and follow things through to completion.
- Cross-functional collaboration: You build good working relationships with engineering, commercial, and operations colleagues, and communicate clearly to keep work joined up.
- Adaptability: You’re comfortable in a fast-changing environment and stay calm and organised when priorities shift.
- Ownership mindset: You spot problems before they grow, take the initiative to resolve what you can, and know when to elevate.
- Career ambition: You’re keen to grow into a project management role, and eager to learn how projects are planned, budgeted, and delivered as ORCA scales.
