We are seeking an experienced Foreman / Supervisor Fitter in our Washington workshop. This is a hands-on role combining technical knowledge with team leadership, ensuring all mechanical works are delivered safely, on time and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical & Operational
- Carry out and lead mechanical fitting and maintenance on heavy construction and mining plant.
- Perform mechanical assembly, disassembly of HGV's, agricultural machinery, excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks.
- Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety regulations.
- Supervise and mentor fitters and trackshop operatives.
- Allocate daily workloads and prioritise jobs.
- Monitor quality, productivity and safety compliance.
- Provide coaching and technical guidance.
- Maintain a safe workshop and site environment.
- Conduct toolbox talks and risk assessments.
- Ensure maintenance records are accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate with operations and management teams.
- Liaise with customers or site supervisors when required.
- Report progress, delays or technical issues promptly.
Person Specification
- Proven experience as a Fitter in heavy plant, mining or construction environments.
- Experience working on HGV's, agricultural machinery, excavators, bulldozers, dump trucks.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Desirable
- Experience with hydraulics, welding or fabrication.
- Workshop-based heavy plant repair experience.
