Job Title: Heating Engineer (Social Housing) Location: Hertfordshire Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Start Date: ASAP We’re Hiring: Heating Engineer – Social Housing Contracts Are you a qualified and experienced Heating Engineer looking for a stable, long-term role in Hertfordshire? We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established building services provider with over 40 years of experience in the sector. You’ll be joining a trusted contractor delivering heating and maintenance services across residential properties for local authorities, housing associations, and NHS clients. The Role You’ll be responsible for the servicing, maintenance, and repair of domestic gas boilers and central heating systems in both occupied and void properties. This is a field-based role covering sites across Hertfordshire. Key duties include: * Servicing and commissioning of gas boilers and heating systems * Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs/replacements * Draining and refilling heating systems * Replacing radiators, valves, and other components * Ensuring work complies with gas safety and health & safety regulations * Participating in an out-of-hours emergency call-out rota What You’ll Need * ACS Gas Qualifications (CCN1, CENWAT, CPA1, CKR1, HTR1) * Full UK Driving Licence * Valid CSCS Card * Good fault-finding skills and heating system knowledge * Experience working in social housing or similar environments * Able to work independently and safely in a lone working environment * Based in or near the Hertfordshire area Desirable: * Asbestos awareness * Knowledge of working with vulnerable tenants * Risk assessment understanding What’s in It for You? * Competitive salary (paid weekly via BACS) * Company van (no private use), fuel card, phone, and uniform * 21 days holiday + bank holidays (increasing with service up to 25 days) * Pension scheme (auto-enrolment) * Life insurance & Employee Assistance Programme * Staff discounts and referral scheme * Ongoing training and development * Career progression opportunities Hours & Additional Info: * Monday to Friday: 8:00am – 6:00pm (1-hour unpaid break) * 3-month probation period * Equal opportunities employer
