The Opportunity
As a Fibre Network and Wireless Project Manager you’ll be responsible for supporting and co-ordinating the planning, designing, and managing the deployment of fibre and wireless networks. Using Wireless technologies as well as Private, Public and Openreach’s Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) framework to deliver networks. This role involves network mapping, compliance adherence, permitting, stakeholder coordination, and overseeing the successful execution of projects from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Planning & Design: Supporting the design and plan fibre networks in accordance with PIA regulations and industry best practices. Scheduling and supporting the conducting of desktop and field surveys to assess infrastructure suitability for fibre deployment. Prepare fibre route designs, including duct and pole utilisation. Develop and manage WiMAX network deployment projects. Ensure network designs align with cost-effective and efficient deployment strategies.
- Network Deployment And Optimisation: Oversee the installation and configuration of WiMAX base stations and customer premises equipment (CPE). Coordinate with engineers to ensure optimal coverage, capacity, and performance. Work with RF engineers to optimise spectrum usage and minimise interference.
- Project Management: Lead fibre deployment projects from planning to execution, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery. Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources. Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project implementation. Identify and mitigate potential risks, ensuring compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
- Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure all network designs comply with Openreach PIA guidelines and local authority regulations. Submit and manage PIA applications, including noticing, permits, and wayleaves. Maintain accurate records and documentation for audits and regulatory reporting. Liaise with Openreach and other third parties to resolve any infrastructure-related issues. Engage with local authorities and landlords to secure necessary permissions and agreements. Ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and licensing requirements.
- Stakeholder & Supplier Coordination: Work closely with internal teams, external contractors, and suppliers to manage project deliverables. Engage with local authorities, landlords, and wayleave officers to secure necessary permissions. Maintain strong relationships with Openreach and other infrastructure providers.
- Quality Assurance & Performance Monitoring: Support conduct post-installation audits to ensure fibre deployment meets quality standards. Implement best practices to improve network planning and project execution efficiency.
Essential Key Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience in fibre network planning, PIA regulations, and telecoms infrastructure.
