Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Lorry Driver role based in Waltham Abbey. The Lorry Driver will be responsible for safely operating company trucks to deliver and collect plant equipment to and from customer sites across the South East and beyond. Daily tasks include loading and unloading machinery, securing loads in accordance with safety standards, completing delivery documentation, and performing basic vehicle checks. The role involves liaising with customers and the operations team to ensure timely deliveries, maintaining a professional attitude on site, and complying with all relevant road safety and company policies. Flexibility to work extended hours when required and a focus on safe, efficient transport of equipment are essential.
Qualifications
- Valid CDL Class A (or equivalent appropriate license) and strong truck driving skills.
- Experience with loading, unloading, and securing plant or heavy equipment on a truck.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations and other applicable road transport and safety standards.
- Familiarity with operating and maneuvering different types of trucks and trailers.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a safety-first mindset.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle inspections and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Previous experience in plant hire, construction, or heavy equipment transport is beneficial.
