If you want to experience work that’s truly rewarding, join us. Because when we achieve together, customers and communities thrive. Work for Orbit. Believe in people.
The role
As we transform our Property Directorate, we’re looking for a talented Mobilisation Manager to help shape the future of our repairs, maintenance, compliance and investment services. This is an exciting 18-month fixed-term contract opportunity, offering the chance to work at the heart of one of Orbit’s most significant transformation programmes. Whether you’re looking to broaden your experience through a fixed term contract or take the next step in your programme management career, this is an opportunity to make a lasting impact. This role is part of Property where you’ll help us to lead the way investing and maintaining 46,000 homes.
What you’ll achieve
- Working within our Property Transformation team, you’ll manage the mobilisation and demobilisation of property contracts and services, ensuring every transition is carefully planned, well governed and successfully delivered.
- You’ll coordinate multiple workstreams, bringing together operational teams, contractors, suppliers and support functions to ensure new services are ready from day one while maintaining continuity for our customers throughout the transition.
- No two projects will be the same. One week you could be coordinating operational readiness for a major contract mobilisation; the next you’ll be managing programme risks or ensuring systems, data and processes are ready to support a seamless service launch.
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of mobilisation and demobilisation programmes across Property.
- Develop and manage detailed mobilisation plans, ensuring milestones, dependencies and risks are effectively managed.
- Coordinate operational readiness across people, systems, data, suppliers and processes.
- Work closely with colleagues across Property, Procurement, Commercial, HR, Legal and Technology.
- Support contractor onboarding, service transitions and handovers.
- Help manage TUPE activity and workforce transitions where required.
- Monitor programme risks, governance and delivery performance.
- Ensure our customers remain at the centre of every transition by minimising disruption and maintaining service continuity.
What you’ll bring
- You’ll be a highly organised programme or project professional who enjoys bringing order to complexity and working with a wide range of stakeholders.
- You’ll ideally have experience within property services, facilities management, construction, housing or another operational environment where service continuity is critical.
- Experience delivering projects, programmes or mobilisation activity.
- Excellent planning, organisation and coordination skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities.
- A proactive approach to problem solving and risk management.
- The ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for delivering successful outcomes.

It shows that you're not just ready to get to work but that you've got the essential safety knowledge, which is super important in the construction industry.

How to prepare for a job interview at Orbit Group
✨Show Off Your Safety Knowledge
In construction, health and safety is non-negotiable. Get comfortable with specific safety regulations like COSHH or Working at Height – you might get asked how you’d handle risk assessments or unsafe conditions. We need to show that we prioritise safety above all else.
✨Be Ready for Hands-On Scenarios
Expect practical questions or even a mini test where you’ll need to demonstrate basic skills. They might set up a scenario and ask how you would approach a specific task. Let’s prepare by brushing up on our trade skills and thinking through past projects we’ve worked on.
✨Flexibility is Key
Since this is a temporary role, they’ll want to know if you can adapt quickly to different teams and situations. Let's think about past experiences where we've had to adjust on the fly. This will show we’re ready to hit the ground running!
✨Highlight Your Previous Experience
Temporary roles often require hitting the ground running, so make sure to have a few stories lined up that showcase your relevant experience in construction. We want to emphasise skills that might not be on our CV—like teamwork and problem-solving when things don't go to plan.
