Location: Midlands or South-East. Agile working with office base in Coventry (Midlands) or Erith (South-East). For Midlands based applicants, regular travel required within 30 miles of Coventry and occasional travel to East Sussex & Kent. South-East based applicants can expect regular travel between Erith, East Surrey and Kent with occasional travel to sites in Warwickshire & South-West Leicestershire.

We are looking for a Tree Officer to join our Estates team and play a vital role in managing and protecting the trees across our estates. This is a hands‑on role that blends professional arboricultural work with customer service, contractor oversight and stakeholder collaboration. This is an opportunity to make a direct, visible difference to communities while developing your skills in a supportive environment. You’ll have the freedom to work across a variety of locations, balancing home‑based planning with on‑site inspections and occasional office‑based team meetings. What you’ll do
- Take ownership of, manage and maintain, trees within designated areas of the Orbit Estate.
- Carry out cyclical tree surveys to assess tree health and safety, recommending appropriate remedial action.
- Respond to customer enquiries promptly and professionally, providing accurate advice and information.
- Manage contractor performance to ensure work meets specifications, deadlines and quality standards.
- Support the wider Tree Team in managing and maintaining all trees across the Orbit estate.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and positive relationships.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has experience in tree inspection, assessment or arboricultural management.
- Can interpret survey findings and make clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
- Is confident in managing contractors and holding them accountable for performance.
- Communicates well with a range of people – from customers to technical teams.
- Is flexible to travel regularly across either the Midlands or the South East.
What you’ll bring
Essential skills
- Experience of working in a similar capacity.
- Minimum of Level 3 Diploma in Arboriculture or similar qualification.
- Knowledge of tree inspection techniques, risk assessment, fault diagnosis and maintenance techniques gained from practical experience.
- Knowledge of the law and procedures relating to the protection of trees.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements relating to tree works.
- Ability to monitor the performance of contractors against contract conditions and specifications.
- Have a valid UK driving licence, a working vehicle and the ability to travel nationally.
