The role Orbit Group are delighted to be recruiting for a Community Hub Officer to join us ahead of the opening of our brand new Hastings Community Hub. As the Hub Officer, you will support the delivery of Orbit’s Community Hub by engaging customers, partners and local communities, increasing access to Better Days support services and ensuring customer insight helps shape local investment and community activity. The role will require a driving license and access to your own vehicle. This role is part of our Customer directorate where you'll help us to lead the way in keeping our promise to more than 100,000 customers. Where you'll be working As the Hub Officer, you will be working full-time on-site at the hub and occasionally out on visits for local events. This role will be suited to an individual that's local to the Hastings area. What you'll achieve Plan, coordinate and deliver a programme of community engagement, activities and events within Orbit’s Community Hubs. Support the day-to-day operation of Community Hubs, ensuring they are welcoming, accessible, safe and well-used by customers and partners. Provide a regular face-to-face presence at hubs, building trusted relationships with customers, partners and local communities. Provide information, advice and guidance to Orbit customers, identifying needs and making appropriate referrals into Better Days and external support services. Support stakeholder mapping and build knowledge of local services, referral routes and partnership opportunities. Support the Place Investment and Partnership Lead and Community Hub Manager to deliver place-based activity, working with colleagues, customers and partners to respond to identified local priorities. Work with communications colleagues to promote Community Hubs, local activities and engagement opportunities within local communities.What you'll bring Essential skills Experience of working with local communities in a community setting, community hub or community-focused programme. Experience of delivering information, advice and guidance in a community-based environment. Ability to manage challenging conversations and behaviours professionally and confidently. Experience of partnership working and building effective relationships with local services. Experience of collating monitoring information, customer feedback and performance data. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. Confident speaking in public and engaging with a range of audiences. Ability to travel across Orbit geography and work occasional evenings or weekends to meet the requirements of the role.Desirable skills Experience of community service design or co-design with customers and partners.
