Requirements
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience working on SQL database development solutions within Visual Studio.
- ETL skills, minimum SSIS, preferably Data Factory, Synapse and Fabric.
- Experience developing data warehouse solutions and modelling fact and dimension tables.
- Working knowledge of Azure DevOps methodologies for Agile projects, including source control, development, testing and deployment pipelines.
- Good communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
- Experience gathering requirements, doing business analysis and working with SMEs to build and refine a requirements backlog.
- Ability to write technical documents and data dictionaries.
- Scripting experience with Python and PowerShell.
- Strong documentation and organisational skills to support effective knowledge transfer.
- Ability to manage time effectively and balance multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Deliver a range of data engineering activities within our central data team to produce relevant data models that support business reporting requirements.
- Support the Platform Lead – Data Engineering and work in partnership across the Transformation, Technology and Data directorate to design, build, deploy and support the security, networks and infrastructure required to host our central data platform.
- Ensure development, solution designs and ways of working align with our corporate policies on data governance compliance.
- Embed and document best practice processes within our Data Engineering team and support documentation standards and clear knowledge sharing to improve onboarding and troubleshooting.
- Use Azure DevOps in line with our Data Engineering ways of working for source control, development, deployment pipelines and testing, while recording required detail and time spent on assigned DevOps activities.
- Review requirements and specifications, define test conditions, identify issues and risks, analyse and report test activities and results, and identify root causes of data issues with sustainable fixes.
- Support the Transformation, Technology and Data directorate in embedding the end‑to‑end data and reporting process in our organisation.
- Work with Data Architecture and teams across Transformation, Technology and Data to elicit end‑user requirements and translate them into actions for the Data Engineering team.
- Participate in code reviews, mentoring opportunities, and adapt to evolving technologies such as Microsoft Fabric and Power Platform.
