The role Orbit is delighted to be recruiting for a Communications Project Lead to join the team on a 12 month FTC until mid-August 2027. This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to shape how we communicate one of the biggest operational changes at Orbit - the creation of our new in-house repairs team. As Communications Project Lead, you’ll take ownership of communications for this transformation, helping colleagues understand, feel confident in, and get excited about the journey we’re on. From onboarding new teams to bringing our values to life, you’ll play a central role in building pride, clarity and belief across our repairs and maintenance workforce. You’ll also make sure that the rest of our colleagues are kept up to date with what’s happening.

You’ll work at the heart of a fast-moving programme, partnering with operational, people, reputation & brand, engagement and L&D teams to deliver clear, human, and engaging communications. You’ll help shape how our new in-house repairs service lands with new and existing colleagues and ultimately how we deliver services to our customers. Great communication is critical to building trust, confidence and pride during change - and you’ll be at the centre of making that happen. This is an agile working role with roughly one day per week based out of our Coventry office (subject to change based on business need/in-person meetings). This role is part of People and Strategy where you'll help us to build a culture and brand that people want to be part of.

What you'll achieve

  • Leading in-house repairs team communications
  • Own and deliver the communications plan for the in-house repairs transformation
  • Turn complex operational change into clear, simple, and engaging messaging
  • Partner with People, Engagement and L&D teams to support onboarding of new repairs colleagues
  • Tailor tone, language and channels to suit operational colleagues (non-desk-based audiences)
  • Use a mix of channels - including events, toolkits, visuals, audio, video and face-to-face engagement
  • Bring to life the difference in-house repairs will make to our customers and communities
  • Work closely with the Internal Communications Manager to support related projects

What you'll bring

  • Strong understanding of operational environments - ideally within property, repairs, maintenance or housing
  • Experience supporting people change, onboarding and cultural integration
  • Able to adapt tone and style for different audiences - particularly frontline colleagues
  • Strong stakeholder management - especially at a senior level
  • Experience creating engaging content across formats (written, visual, audio, video, events)
  • Proven experience in corporate communications, preferably within housing, public sector, or regulated industries
  • Driving licence and access to a car
