The role
The role is within Orbits Building Safety Team. This role is to provide support for ensuring compliance with the Group\’s statutory duties as set out in the Building Safety Act and Fire Safety Act, and compliance obligations for all buildings over 11m in height in accordance with the Safety Case Report to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Building Assurance Certificate.
This role is part of Property where you\’ll help us to lead the way investing and maintaining 46,000 homes.
What you\’ll achieve
The role will be to support, with technical expertise, the information required to provide to the Building Safety Regulator, the Fire and Rescue services and other Government bodies within Safety Case Files and regulatory returns to ensure our Golden thread of information is live and current.
- Undertaking site inspections, feasibility reports, and surveys on a periodic and ad hoc basis as required
- Conduct detailed inspections of buildings and structures to assess their condition, safety, and compliance with relevant codes and regulations
- Conducting inspections following risk assessments for verification of works, creating reports on recommendations, cost estimates for contractors to deliver
- Identify and document defects, structural issues, maintenance needs, and areas requiring improvement
- Management of the Building works procedure, to ensure that works by stakeholders are following the correct processes and regulatory requirements
- Technical support for large improvement projects with the role as ensuring all documentation is provided and the Golden Thread is kept up to date.
- Creation and monitoring of ‘permission to work’ process for all relevant buildings to ensure the safety of customers
- Conduct regular structural inspections and document findings and manage works and recommendations to finish
- Project Manage safety assessments by third parties on relevant buildings such as FRAew’s and compartmentation surveys

- Achieved or working towards chartership
- Significant experience in managing building works to meet Building Control requirements
- Experience of construction and building, maintenance and major repair improvement programmes
- Experience in post inspection and on-site audits
- Ability to understand and analyse complex building problems
- Able to travel to meet the requirements of the role across Orbits geographical area
- Willing and able to participate in the out of hours emergency roster, which is normally only 2 weeks per year
