Orbis Support are an employee-owned supported living organisation who specialise in providing bespoke packages of support to people with learning disabilities and complex needs who wish to live in the community in their own home. Orbis primarily supports adults and young people with learning disabilities, autism, behaviour that challenges, enduring mental health difficulties and physical disabilities.


We are currently recruiting a Part Time (27 hours per week) Female Support Worker to join our team in the East Denton area of Newcastle (This post has a “genuine occupational requirement” covered under the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 & therefore only female applicants will be considered)

We are looking to recruit Healthcare Support Workers full time to provide support, to two ladies with complex health needs.

Essentially the right person would need some moving & handling experience and & driving licence. Preferred experience and knowledge of BSL, peg feeding, suction, catheter care & personal care.

This role will involves providing 24 hr support including weekends, evenings & nights –we pay £14.20 per hour & £120 for sleep in’s, £10 enhancement on waking nights

Some of the key responsibilities include -

  • Encourage development for life skills in relation to domestic task, social activities, money management & relations as appropriate to the individual.
  • Provide personal care to maintain high standards of person hygiene.
  • To provide stimulating activities to ensure the person being supported has a full & stimulating life, ensuring that the service provided reflects their views and wishes.
  • To fully act in accordance with Orbis Support’s Policies & Procedures & Systems.
  • Record & inform senior staff of any changes observed in physical health or behaviour & assist with any necessary action in emergencies or where changes require medical attention.
  • Update documentation and daily records & follow support plan.
  • Liaise as required with families, carer’s advocate & professionals involved in supporting people.
  • Comply with all the legal responsibilities under Health & Safety legislation.
  • Carry out house administration duties as required.
  • Co-operate with & participate positively in staff activities & duties, including staff meetings, supervision session’s performance & reviews.
  • Attend training sessions.
