We are seeking a data-driven full time Business Analyst to join Orbis’s newly formed core Data (Hub) team in our London (Marylebone) office. This role spans the Investment, Operations, and Client pillars, sitting at the intersection of business understanding, data engineering, and data product management. You’ll collaborate closely with Data Owners to shape the data products that support Orbis’s core capabilities, ensuring they meet real business needs and maintain high standards of quality and consistency. You’ll also contribute to identifying and evaluating additional data platform capabilities and help build the business case for their procurement. What will your responsibilities be?
- Discovery & Definition: Engage Data Owners to capture and document clear data product requirements. Define data contracts, semantic models, and data dictionaries to ensure consistency and reusability.
- Technical Delivery Support: Collaborate with engineers to align data product pipelines and transformations with business logic. Support testing, validation, and agile delivery activities (sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews).
- Platform Enablement: Support the selection, evaluation and delivery of new data capabilities (e.g. Data Quality, Catalogue, Metadata, MDM, Observability tools). Collaborate with tech teams and vendors to ensure alignment with data architecture and governance standards.
- Governance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure data products comply with governance policies and best practices. Identify opportunities to improve data quality, traceability, and delivery. Promote and embed a data product mindset across teams.
About you:
- Proven ability to translate business needs into technical and functional data product requirements.
- Experience with data (i.e. pipelines, ETL processes, and data product delivery).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with an eye for data quality and integrity.
- Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks and product-oriented ways of working.
- Excellent documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Optional experience which is beneficial:
- Experience in data analysis, delivery, analytics and/or innovation within Financial Services.
- Understanding of API-driven data exchange and integration design.
- Understanding of data capabilities (e.g. data governance, data cataloguing, or data quality tooling).
- Prior experience contributing to platform capability identification, evaluation or vendor selection processes.
